What was your last non-radio job?
I’ve never had a “real” job. I started in radio when I was 16, so the only job I’ve ever had is “unreal” … sitting in a studio playing tunes for my friends. That’s not really a job, is it?
How do you spend your time outside the station?
Kayaking, swimming, playing with my dog, anything I can do in the water or the woods.
What is your favorite Boston band, past or present?
So many…..how do you choose just one? I used to hang out with Peter Wolf when I worked at WBCN, so I guess I’d say J. Geils.
What was your first concert?
Country Joe and the Fish in Minneapolis in 1970. Gimme an F!
What was the first album you ever bought?
The first album I owned (it was given to me as a gift) was “Meet the Beatles”, but the first album I bought with my own money was Led Zeppelin’s first album.
What are some of your favorite movies?
The Princess Bride is my all-time favorite. I also love Spinal Tap, and all the rest of the Christopher Guest movies … anything by Wes Anderson is a must see.
What are some of your favorite TV shows, past or present?
Better Call Saul, Mad Men, The Larry Sanders Show, Thirty Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and of course, the entire Law and Order franchise. I’ve seen every episode about 20 times!
If you had a goofy DJ name what would it be?
I had a goofy DJ name, and it was “Killer”, Killer Kirshbaum. It started as a joke when I was 16, and far from a killer. It just stuck. People in Minneapolis still remember me by that name.
What’s your favorite YouTube clip?
Baby goats in pajamas, like this one!
What is your favorite time wasting website?
I am addicted to the Carolyn Hax column in the Washington Post. I’ve always been a sucker for advice columns!
