SUMMARY:Pete Seeger: The Storm King
DESCRIPTION:Pete Seeger: The Storm King presents Pete Seeger’s spoken words—in his own recorded voice—set to live music and video based on the Grammy® nominated audio project conceived and produced by world-renowned percussionist and producer\, Jeff Haynes. \nJeff Haynes\, Sara Milonovich\, Sean Harkness\, Timothy Hill\, and Richie Stearns present new music created by musicians from traditions as diverse as African Music\, Blues\, Bluegrass\, Classical Guitar\, Folk\, Jazz\, and Native American Music—to accompany and interact with Pete Seeger’s voice—painting an evocative aural backdrop for Pete’s most engaging stories\, narratives\, and poems reflecting his lifelong dedication to human rights\, environmental issues\, and his boundless hope for humanity—bringing Pete’s wisdom and stories to new audiences and into a new technological age. \n \nEach piece is unique in sound and emotion and also in how it came together. Haynes and Seeger\, working closely for over 5 years\, have created something spectacular—weaving Pete’s words to the music of artists from around the world\, who may not otherwise have shared a stage with Pete but who have been deeply influenced by him. \nThe result is astounding. \n“It brings out things in my words that I never knew before.”—Pete Seeger \n“Pete’s still finding the hope and planting the seeds . . . and keeping us invigorated in our own best intentions.” —Dar Williams \nABOUT JEFF HAYNES: \nGrammy award winning percussionist and producer\, Jeff Haynes has toured with everyone from the Pat Metheny Group\, Al Jarreau and Lizz Wright to Harry Belafonte and Peabo Bryson and his chops can be heard on over 100 CDs. His creative direction as a producer on his recent release of PETE SEEGER THE STORM KING\, Pete Seeger spoken word set to multi-genre music from over 50 musicians\, has been recognized with acclaim from Publisher’s Weekly\, Amazon\, AudioFile Magazine and Library Journal. Also with the highest honor of being nominated for a GRAMMY® and is an 2014 AUDIE AWARD® Finalist.

From Bon Jovi to Billy Joel\, you make the requests and you sing along – lots of music\, and lots of laughs in one of the most interactive shows to hit the stage. \nDueling piano shows are request oriented\, interactive sing-a-long shows  wherein two piano players sit across from each other and trade songs. \nThe dueling piano audience is used for the dueling aspect of the show.  Audience members are pitted one-side-against-the-other. Examples of rivalries  include country vs. rock and men against women – maximizing the players’ energy and audience interaction. \n

SUMMARY:Ani DiFranco
DESCRIPTION:Ani DiFranco is one of the most important artists of our time. Songwriter\, Poet\, philanthropist\, and icon\, DiFranco’s social contributions are just as important as her musical ones. Her career has been a beacon of independence. She has always been her own boss\, starting her own record label Righteous Babe at the age of eighteen. Since then has made the most of her prominence with unbridled social commentary and an honest voice. She is sincere. You can hear it in every note she sings. She’s lent that voice to a variety of social movements over the years. Through The Righteous Babe Foundation she has given visibility to and aid to a number of grassroots initiatives\, and has personally performed in benefits and spoken at rallies. \n \nAni’s idiosyncratic style has developed through years of experimentation with Folk\, Punk\, and Jazz. Her playing\, with it’s staccato picking\, and alternate tunings\, is a rarity in the folk community\, but then again so is Ani. There’s no one quite like her. It’s no wonder her and her label have so influencial. Says DiFranco\, “folk music is not an acoustic guitar – that’s not where the heart of it is. I use the word ‘folk’ in reference to Punk music and Rap music. It’s an attitude\, it’s an awareness of one’s heritage\, and it’s a community. It’s subcorporate music that gives voice to different communities and their struggle against authority.” \nOpening Act: Jenny Scheinman \nJenny Scheinman is a singer\, violin player\, composer and arranger. She grew up on a homestead in Northern California in a family of folk musicians\, studied at Oberlin Conservatory\, graduated with a degree in English literature from UC Berklee\, and has been performing since she was a teenager. She has taken the #1 Rising Star Violinist title in the Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll and has been listed as one of their Top Ten Overall Violinists for a decade. She has garnered numerous high-profile arranging credits with Lucinda Williams\, Bono\, Lou Reed\, Metallica and Sean Lennon\, and has toured and recorded with Bill Frisell\, Bruce Cockburn\, Norah Jones\, Madeleine Peyroux\, Nels Cline\, Vinicius Cantuaria\, Rodney Crowell\, Jimmie Dale Gilmore\, and Mark Ribot. She has seven CDs of original music to date; Mischief & Mayhem\, Jenny Scheinman\, Crossing The Field\, 12 Songs\, Shalagaster\, The Rabbi’s Lover and Live At Yoshi’s. \nhttp://www.jennyscheinman.com

With a career and repertoire spanning decades between Genesis and his outstanding solo work\, this will be the last opportunity for fans to see Hackett perform a whole set from the seminal prog band’s catalogue. \n\nAn enthusiastic Steve Hackett explains: “Due to the success of the Genesis Revisited shows\, in 2014 we’re extending both the dates and the concept. We’ll launch into a full Genesis set with favourites from this year such as The Musical Box\, Dancing with the Moonlit Knight and Supper’s Ready along with the addition of other Genesis classics which are often requested and the audiences deserve to hear… I’m really excited about this!”\n\nNew live material for the Genesis Extended Tour will include performances of “Squonk” from Trick of the Tail”\, “Lilywhite Lilith” fromThe Lamb Lies Down on Broadway\, and “The Knife” fromTrespass.\n\nSteve Hackett was Genesis’ guitarist from 1971 to 1977 and is the first ex-member to re-record and tour that part of the band’s material in Genesis Revisited I (1996) and II (2012). Hearing a packed house inquire in unison\, ‘A flower?’ is a spine-tingling experience’; ‘spine-tingling’ was also the word used by the Newcastle’ Chronicle to describe the brilliance of his guitar solo\, while Fireworks called the show‘magnificent in every respect’ and Classic Rock Society defined it as ‘two hours and a half of pure joy for any Genesis fan’. The Daily Mail was particularly impressed with Steve’s band\, able to ‘match the studio recordings and even improve on them’. \nIf you missed the show or the show missed your favourite track\, here’s your chance to relive the timeless magic that is Genesis\, thanks to guitar wizard Steve Hackett and his remarkable live band. SUMMARY:Steven Wright
DESCRIPTION:A comedian noted for his deadpan delivery\, Steven Wright has built up a following\, and while he has not followed many of his contemporaries into sitcom or big screen stardom\, he did win an Academy Award for the short “The Appointments of Dennis Jennings” (1988). He co-produced\, co-wrote and co-starred in the film\, playing a man who goes to a psychotherapist and meets with unexpected results. \n \nBalding\, with hair that looks like it was just electrified\, Wright began performing in Boston comedy clubs in the late 1970s and by 1982 had made his first appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson”. He went on to make nine appearances over the next three years. Home Box Office (HBO) took notice\, and gave Wright his first chance to headline a TV special\, 1985’s “On Location: Steven Wright”. The next year\, Wright appeared on the first “Comic Relief” special\, and has performed a routine on each once since. During the 80s he also guest hosted “Saturday Night Live” (NBC)\, guested on “The Smothers Brothers Thanksgiving Special” (CBS\, 1988) and even appeared on “The Prince’s Trust Gala” (TBS\, 1989)\, an uppercrust affair of the royals in the UK. Yet despite ongoing appearances on late-night talk shows\, Wright has yet to reach the top rungs of comic stardom. Instead\, his TV acting appearances have been in support of others\, such as his 1993 recurring role as Warren\, Paul Reiser’s laconic cameraperson\, on “Mad About You” (NBC). He also made a memorable guest appearance on HBO’s “The Larry Sanders Show” in 1992. \nWright made his screen debut playing the dentist Larry Stillman in “Desperately Seeking Susan” (1985)\, then appeared in the ensemble cast of “Stars and Bars” (1988). He voiced the DJ in “Reservoir Dogs” (1992) before playing the unskilled pilot in “So I Married An Axe Murderer” (1993). In 1994\, he was featured in a number of roles\, including Dr. Reingold in “Natural Born Killers“\, the man at the phone booth in “Mixed Nuts” and voiced the ironically named turtle Speed in the animated children’s film “The Swan Princess“. On occasion\, Wright has written for film and TV\, notably Jim Jarmusch’s “Coffee and Cigarettes” (1986)\, in which he also appeared\, and his own special\, “Wicker Chairs and Gravity” (HBO\, 1990).
